ALGIERS- Air Algérie, the national carrier of Algeria, has announced its ambitious plan to soar to new heights and reach 60 international destinations by 2025. The airline’s commercial director, Yacine Amiar, unveiled this expansion strategy during the launch of the inaugural flight from Algiers airport to the Russian city of Saint Petersburg. With destinations spanning every continent, Air Algérie aims to foster strong connections with nations worldwide.

The new Algiers-Saint Petersburg route, operating three flights per week, is a significant milestone in the airline’s endeavor to enhance ties with Russia. It complements the existing flight program to the Russian capital, Moscow, thereby strengthening the bonds between the two friendly nations.

Expressing his appreciation for the positive step taken by Air Algérie, Antoine Chamakov, the representative of the Russian Embassy in Algiers, emphasized the importance of consolidating Russia’s relations with Algeria, a key African partner. This new connection is poised to facilitate increased trade, tourism, and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Amiar highlighted that the expansion of Air Algérie’s network is part of the company’s commitment to bolster its international presence, with a special focus on Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Americas. Among the upcoming routes from Algiers airport are Johannesburg (South Africa), Libreville (Gabon), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia), Abuja (Nigeria), and Douala (Cameroon) on the African continent. Additionally, Air Algérie plans to connect travelers to global destinations such as Amsterdam (Netherlands), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Hong Kong (China), New York (United States), Caracas (Venezuela), and Havana (Cuba).

This bold expansion initiative aims to fulfill the growing demands of customers seeking to travel to and from Algeria while solidifying Algiers airport’ status as an international hub. The recent inauguration of a new national transit gateway further facilitates seamless travel and transit, propelling Algiers towards its goal of becoming a thriving international hub.

Air Algérie’s endeavor to serve 60 international destinations by 2025 is a testament to the airline’s resilience, vision, and commitment to creating seamless travel experiences for its passengers. As the company continues to spread its wings and connect the world, it stands ready to embark on this exciting journey of growth and exploration.
