The Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Yacine Hammadi, revealed on Tuesday in Chlef that 128 tourist expansion zones (ZET) across the country must be reclassified to benefit from an administrative correction to their exploitation in the promotion tourism.
Speaking on the sidelines of a working and inspection visit to his sector in Chlef, Hammadi indicated that the ZETs in Chlef, like other wilayas in the country, require the redefinition of their borders and a series of administrative procedures, as well as their reclassification.
“The purification of tourist land is one of the most important objectives of the Ministry of Tourism (..)”, affirmed the minister adding that “the files of 128 ZETs across the country contain administrative errors due to the new statute, in particular the redefinition of the borders between municipalities and the urban expansion”.
He stressed that some ZETs which have lost this character through urban expansion and agricultural investments “should be downgraded” in addition to the removal of all administrative obstacles to facilitate the procedures for their exploitation, indicating that his ministerial department was working on drawing up a decree on the operation and organization of ZETs.
During his visit to the holiday complex in the municipality of Sidi Abderrahmane and the hotel Dar El-Ikram in the municipality of Beni Haoua, the Minister of Tourism called for the revision of accommodation prices and the improvement of hotel services .
At the beginning of his visit, the Minister chaired the launch of the activities of the first training session for the benefit of beach managers to follow the progress of the summer season.
