Secretary-General of the RND Party, Mustapha Yahi, Advocates for Harnessing Algeria’s Potential as a Hub for Africa-Europe Intersection

ALGIERS- Mustapha Yahi, the Secretary-General of the National Democratic Rally party, emphasized Algeria’s proactive measures over the past two years to encourage and strengthen investment. These measures, aimed at fostering a robust and competitive national economy, align with the government’s commitment to sustainable growth and global economic integration.
Speaking at a workshop titled “Investment: Reality and Challenges” in Béjaïa, Yahi highlighted the completion of a cohesive and attractive legal-economic framework. This framework played a pivotal role in overcoming constraints faced by both domestic and foreign economic stakeholders.
Yahi urged the need to capitalize on Algeria’s strategic position, situated as a key intersection between Europe and Africa. He underscored the geopolitical significance of Algeria, extending its influence to the Gulf of Guinea, along with the nation’s abundant natural resources and a qualified human capital. Yahi sees this as a foundation for building a resilient national economy.
The RND Secretary-General predicted that the upcoming year would follow the economic trajectory of the current year, with a budget allocation exceeding 108 billion dollars. He emphasized that despite positive economic indicators, Algeria faces challenges such as administrative ambiguities in investment bodies like the Algerian Agency for Investment Promotion. Additionally, Yahi called for greater initiative and decisiveness at the local level and the need to address regulatory shortcomings.
As Algeria continues to showcase notable economic growth, ending the year with a 5.3% increase and a trade surplus of $11.3 billion, Yahi acknowledged existing challenges. The workshop aims to scrutinize and address these challenges, fostering recommendations to enhance the investment climate in the country.
