ALGIERS- In a significant step towards fostering collaborative efforts between public institutions, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments and the National Civil Society Observatory signed an agreement on Tuesday. The agreement aims to embody a participatory approach between the observatory and various public entities.

According to the terms of the agreement, both parties will work towards nurturing civic spirit, promoting collaborative work, enhancing civic awareness, and activating the roles of families, mosques, and civil society as institutions for social development. The agreement also involves organizing forums, training sessions, and joint workshops for stakeholders in civil society.

Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youcef Belmehdi, expressed his appreciation for the importance of collaboration with the National Civil Society Observatory, considering it an advisory body that requires the participation of all segments of society. He highlighted the crucial role that mosques and imams can play in guiding and building society.

Belmehdi emphasized the readiness of his department to contribute all available expertise to serve civil society, aligning with the vision of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for a strong, cohesive, and aware civil society.

Noureddine Benbraham, the President of the National Civic Observatory, underscored the significance of mosques as institutions framing society. He deemed this partnership capable of producing added value, particularly in educational initiatives, awareness campaigns, and youth prevention programs.

Benbraham stated, “This collaboration will support the dynamic initiated by the President to strengthen the role of civil society.” The partnership reflects a shared commitment to the development and well-being of Algerian society through cooperative endeavors between religious institutions and civic entities.
