ALGIERS, August 23, 2023 – The Algerian pavilion at the 15th BRICS Summit has emerged as a focal point of interest and interaction, reflecting a commendable display of engagement and cooperation. Organized under the auspices of the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion, and managed by the reputable “Tasdir,” a subsidiary of the Algerian Society of Fairs and Exports (Safex), the Algerian stand is witnessing a substantial influx of visitors, reinforcing Algeria’s commitment to forging strong international partnerships.
In an official press release issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Trade and Export Promotion highlighted the remarkable reception of the Algerian stand, which stands as a testament to the country’s determination to actively participate in global economic and trade dialogues. The stand serves as a platform that congregates representatives from key Algerian institutions, including the Algerian Agency for the Promotion of Foreign Trade (ALGEX), the Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (ABEF), the Algerian Agency for the Promotion of Investment (AAPI), and the pioneering public start-up accelerator “Algeria Venture.”
Designed as an integral facet of the BRICS Summit, which convenes member states – Russia, China, India, Brazil, and South Africa – alongside invited nations, particularly those from the African continent, the BRICS exhibition aims to facilitate the showcasing of diverse products and services. The summit, held from August 22 to 24, 2023, in Johannesburg, South Africa, is hosted by the current chair of the BRICS group, and is themed “The BRICS and Africa: Partnerships for Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development, and Inclusive Multilateralism.”
Distinguished personalities from Algeria, including the Minister of Finance, Laaziz Faid, are participating in the “BRICS Outreach Plus” forum, which takes place within the overarching framework of the 15th BRICS Summit. Representing President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Minister Faid’s presence underscores Algeria’s unwavering commitment to collaborative multilateralism and its intent to explore opportunities for mutually beneficial alliances.
The BRICS consortium, originating in 2009 and composed of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, now commands a staggering 32% of the global GDP and encompasses 42% of the world’s population. Through forums like the 15th BRICS Summit, member nations are shaping the trajectory of global economic and political discourse, while also nurturing avenues for shared growth and sustainable development.
As the Algerian stand continues to draw attention, it serves as a testament to Algeria’s proactive engagement in the international arena and its earnest pursuit of meaningful partnerships for the advancement of the nation and the world at large. The BRICS Summit stands not only as a platform for collaboration but also as a beacon of hope for inclusive and equitable global progress.
