ALGIERS- The 15th edition of the Algeria-France meetings, which concluded in France after three days of exchanges and debates between Algerian and French operators, experts, and institutional representatives, marked a significant shift towards cooperative economic partnerships focused on co-production projects, win-win partnerships, and direct investments.
Under the theme “Algeria: New Partnerships,” this annual event organized by Business France, the French organization responsible for supporting French operators internationally, stood out this year not only for its extended duration across three major French cities—Paris, Lyon, and Marseille—but also for the strong involvement of the two main Algerian and French employer organizations, the Council for Algerian Economic Renewal (Crea), and the Movement of French Enterprises (Medef).
With over 500 economic operators from both countries participating, representing various sectors, this edition aimed to serve as a concrete and crucial step towards advancing the implementation of the new bilateral economic cooperation roadmap announced earlier in February by Crea and Medef during the official launch in Paris of the new Algerian-French Business Council. It signifies a new stage and new paradigms to shape a different logic of partnership, on equal footing, leveraging new opportunities for co-production and investment offered by the Algerian market, thanks to the notable improvement in the business climate and attractive legislative frameworks put in place by the government in the past two years to promote domestic and foreign investment.
Kamel Moula, President of Crea, emphasized the transformation of the Algerian market into a highly attractive business environment for investment and partnership, while Romain Keraval, Director of Business France for Algeria, underscored the shift from import-oriented economics to investment and production-focused approaches. This new reality calls for foreign investors to present more innovative and pragmatic investment projects.
Moreover, this edition of the Algeria-France meetings served as a platform for significant exchanges and B2B meetings between economic actors from both shores, addressing crucial topics of mutual interest such as the Algerian economic trajectory amidst global crises, the leadership of healthcare industries in Algeria’s development, decarbonization and energy transition in industry, the rise of new technologies and digitization, and the drivers of attractiveness and co-production by 2030.
