ALGIERS- Calgaz-Algeria, a private Algerian company specializing in industrial gas production, conducted an export of 66,000 liters of liquid oxygen to Libya from its Ouargla unit on Sunday.

The shipment involved two tanker trucks, each with a capacity of 22,000 liters, dispatched to Libya via the Algerian-Tunisian border crossing at “Bouchebka” in the Tébessa province.

Najib Khadim, the director of Calgaz-Algeria’s industrial gas unit, reported that a third truck, also with a capacity of 22,000 liters, is scheduled to depart by the end of the week.

This marks the third such operation after a 2021 export of industrial gases to Libya, comprising 27,000 liters of liquid oxygen and nitrogen. These gases find applications in various sectors, including the food and petrochemical industries and healthcare.

Khadim emphasized that Calgaz-Algeria is exploring opportunities to export additional shipments of nitrogen and oxygen to Tunisia.

The Ouargla unit of Calgaz-Algeria has been operational in meeting economic needs, contributing to export promotion, and supplying national and foreign companies in the oil, petrochemical, and healthcare industries with liquid oxygen.

Calgaz-Algeria operates two units in Ouargla and Laghouat, with a third unit set to commence operations in Adrar. This expansion aims to facilitate the commercialization and distribution of industrial gases nationwide.
