2nd Edition of Le Générique d'Or Competition Set to Celebrate Arab Drama Excellence

Algiers, Algeria | May 25, 2024 —The stage is set for the eagerly awaited second edition of the Le Générique d’Or ‘Golden Generic’ competition, scheduled to take place at the Algerian Opera House in Boualem Bessaih Square on Wednesday, May 29, 2024. Organized by the Golden Generic Foundation in partnership with the National Association of Audiovisual Professionals, this event has captured widespread anticipation. It proudly enjoys the distinguished patronage of Minister of Culture and Arts, Soraya Mouloudji, and Minister of Communication, Mohamed Laagab.

Themed “New Perspective… New Image” and titled “Palestine … the Resistance,” the second edition of Le Générique d’Or underscores Algeria’s unwavering commitment to championing the Palestinian cause on the global stage. This theme reflects the country’s steadfast stance in advocating for justice and solidarity at all levels.

The competition will draw a distinguished audience, including renowned celebrities from both the Algerian and Arab entertainment industries. A panel of esteemed judges, comprising eminent figures in the audiovisual field, will evaluate Algerian drama works. Headed by director, actress, and educator Hamida Ait El Haj, the jury includes television and film director Mohamed Hazourli, Syrian screenwriter Reem Hanna, Tunisian director Nasreddine Essahili, television and film actress Nawal Massoudi, and television and film actor Abdelbasset Ben Khalifa, as announced by the Golden Generic Foundation.

Expanding its reach beyond Algeria, the second edition of Le Générique d’Or will feature an Arab dimension, highlighting the best Arab drama works from Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Syria. Series such as “Al Hashashin,” “Top Viewing Rate,” “Malieha,” “Shabab Al Boom 12,” “Flouja 2,” “A Amal,” “Al Arabji,” and “Awlad Badeea” will vie for the coveted Le Générique d’Or Award for the Best Arab Drama Work.

Moreover, the competition will pay homage to two late luminaries of the entertainment industry, Algerian actress Rym Ghazali and Egyptian actor Tarek Abdelaziz, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the world of entertainment.

With a mission to celebrate creativity and excellence in the audiovisual realm, the second edition of Le Générique d’Or aims to foster cultural exchange and showcase the rich diversity of Arab drama. Through its diverse lineup of participants and jurors, the event promises to serve as a dynamic platform for innovation, dialogue, and recognition within the Arab media landscape.
