Algiers, Algeria | June 24th, 2024 — The highly anticipated 55th edition of the Algiers International Fair (FIA) kicks off this Monday at the Exhibition Palace (SAFEX) in Algiers, drawing attention from national and international companies, as well as consumers.
Guest of Honor: Turkey
This year’s edition will feature Turkey as the guest of honor, offering a rich program dedicated to showcasing Turkish culture and economic contributions. Highlights include conferences on the history of Algerian-Ottoman relations, various performances, film screenings, and presentations of Turkish culinary arts.
Over 300 public and private companies from diverse sectors, including agro-food, electrical industry, household appliances, mechanics, construction materials, and crafts, will participate in the fair. These participants represent both national and international backgrounds.
Three significant business forums will take place during the fair, focusing on partnerships and investment opportunities with the Czech Republic, Pakistan, and Tanzania.
Objective of FIA
Organized under the high patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the FIA aims to promote national production capabilities, encourage investment, and facilitate exchanges in all sectors. Recognized as a crucial international event, it provides a platform for showcasing Algeria’s economic potential.
Aissam Zemmal, an expert in international marketing, highlights the FIA as a pivotal marketing and advertising initiative to underscore Algeria’s strengths and unique attributes across various fields, including consumer goods. Zemmal points out that foundational work to support national production and export has been established. The next phase involves promoting Algeria’s image to foreign participants and other potential investors. The “Made in Algeria” label is critical for gaining international credibility and competing effectively. Algeria is beginning to assert its presence regionally and globally through a pragmatic approach focused on national interest, food security, energy, and digital sovereignty. Events like the FIA are essential for enhancing Algeria’s international reputation.

According to Kamel Chaïb, the FIA also presents significant opportunities to boost business tourism and crafts. Chaïb suggests that showcasing national potential in transport and accommodation infrastructure is crucial.
