Algiers, Algeria | August 23rd, 2024 — The ASEP Program propels Algerian startups onto the global stage, offering unparalleled access to world-class innovation hubs and strategic partnerships in leading technology ecosystems.
In a move toward fostering global integration, 60 Algerian startups commenced two separate learning expeditions to China and South Korea on Thursday, marking a significant milestone for the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic and guided by the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-Enterprises, this initiative—part of the ASEP (Algerian Startup Learning Expedition Program)—will expose 30 startups per delegation to leading global innovation environments over a 15-day period. With a long-term goal of involving 450 Algerian startups, ASEP aims to immerse them in the world’s most advanced technology hubs.
Algeria Venture, the entity behind ASEP, announced that the startups would engage in 18 strategic visits during the program, allowing them to interface with cutting-edge technology centers, global innovation leaders, and potential collaborative partners from both local and international markets. “These expeditions are designed to provide startups with a global perspective, giving them firsthand exposure to the most advanced innovation ecosystems and practices worldwide,” explained Sidali Zerrouki, Director General of Algeria Venture.
This transformative program also has future cohorts planned for the United States, further broadening the horizons for Algerian startups. According to Zerrouki, ASEP serves as a gateway to international markets and fosters the development of strategic partnerships that can accelerate the growth of Algerian startups on a global scale. “The aim is not just to facilitate international expansion but to position Algerian startups as major contributors to the global economy of tomorrow,” he emphasized, noting that the program also seeks to enrich entrepreneurs’ understanding of global dynamics and innovation.
The larger ambition behind ASEP is to propel Algerian startups onto the world stage, equipping them with the tools to thrive in the global knowledge economy. By immersing in the innovation ecosystems of technology giants, participating startups are poised to transform Algeria’s burgeoning knowledge economy into a global player.
