ALGIERS- Algeria, through hosting the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, aims to leverage its extensive experience in the gas sector and showcase it to participating countries. Additionally, the forum seeks to enhance coordination and cooperation among member states, which collectively hold 70% of global gas reserves. Over its 24-year history, this forum has made significant contributions to shaping the gas market.
Member countries place full confidence in the Algeria summit to formulate a comprehensive strategy aimed at transforming natural gas into a central resource for comprehensive and sustainable development. Gas serves as a smooth and secure conduit for integrating renewable energies into the global energy infrastructure.
The forum’s agenda, spanning until March 3rd, includes various significant events. On the first day, a meeting of the high-level specialized working team will take place, alongside the inauguration of the Gas Research Institute headquarters affiliated with the Gas Exporting Countries Forum. Additionally, a report on global gas forecasts will be presented.
The second day of this important strategic event will host the exceptional ministerial meeting of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, featuring the second edition of the Algeria Forum Awards ceremony and the signing of memoranda of understanding.
Furthermore, the third day will see a meeting of heads of states and governments as part of the seventh Gas Exporting Countries Forum summit.
The seventh Gas Exporting Countries Forum summit kicks off today, Thursday, at the Abdelatif Rahal Conference Palace. Discussions will revolve around how gas-producing countries can keep pace with the global shift towards sustainable energy sources, with a particular focus on the positive role natural gas will play in the energy transition.
