Sonatrach Leads 2024 GECF Summit Distinctions; Iranian Institute of Petroleum Research Receives Second Prize

ALGIERS – The Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) announced its prestigious 2024 awards in Algiers, recognizing outstanding contributions to the gas sector by both institutions and individuals. The ceremony, held at the Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Center (CIC) and presided over by Mohamed Hamel, the Secretary General of GECF, marked the culmination of the extraordinary ministerial meeting preceding the 7th summit set for Saturday in Algiers.
Sonatrach, the national hydrocarbon company, clinched the top prize for its exceptional achievements in the gas industry. The Iranian Institute of Petroleum Research was awarded the second prize, highlighting its significant contributions to research and innovation in the sector. Adnoc, the UAE oil company, secured the third prize.
In the individual category, the GECF honored Ali Hached, an energy expert and former Vice President of Sonatrach, for his remarkable contributions. Additionally, Denis Lonov, a respected advisor to the GECF from Russia, was recognized for his invaluable insights and guidance.
Mohamed Hamel emphasized that these accolades underscore the GECF’s unwavering commitment to advancing the gas industry and serve as a token of appreciation for the exemplary efforts of the recipients in driving progress in the energy sector.
