7th GECF Summit in Algiers: Diverse Lineup as 10 Heads of State Confirm Attendance

ALGIERS- The upcoming summit of heads of state and governments of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) promises to be a momentous event, with a diverse lineup of key leaders set to convene in Algiers. Scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, the summit will be chaired by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, marking a critical juncture in shaping the trajectory of global gas dynamics.

A total of 10 heads of state, alongside 9 energy ministers, ambassadors, and the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy of Malaysia, are slated to participate in this significant gathering.

The summit will witness the attendance of  the Iranian President, Ebrahim Raisi; the President of Bolivia, Luis Arce; the President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Younes Menfi; and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in addition to the President of Iraq, Abdul Latif Jameel Rashid.

Also in attendance will be the President of Mauritania, Mohamed Ould Ghazouani; the President of Mozambique, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi; the President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro; and the President of Senegal, Macky Sall, along with the President of Tunisia, Kais Saied, participating in the summit.

As for Malaysia, it will be represented by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy, while the other participating countries will be represented by their energy ministers, except for the United Arab Emirates and Peru, which will be represented by their respective ambassadors.

The summit is poised to tackle pressing issues facing the gas industry, including market stability, sustainable development, and energy transition strategies. With a diverse array of perspectives and expertise at the table, stakeholders are primed for fruitful discussions aimed at charting a course for the future of global energy.
