ALGIERS- The extraordinary ministerial meeting of the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit kicked off on Friday at the Algiers International Conference Center (CIC), bringing together energy ministers from member and observer countries.

The participants of this meeting will discuss the final version of the Algiers Declaration and related resolutions, which will be submitted for approval at the summit scheduled for Saturday under the presidency of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

Chaired by Minister of Energy and Mines Mohamed Arkab, the energy ministers of member countries will continue their discussions behind closed doors throughout the morning session. They will focus on key agenda items, including strategies for enhancing cooperation among gas-exporting nations and addressing challenges facing the global gas industry.

Additionally, the ministers will deliberate on the organization of the 2nd GECF Awards Ceremony, aimed at recognizing individuals and institutions that have made exceptional contributions to the natural gas sector.

During the afternoon session, participants will engage in bilateral meetings and discussions, as well as a signing ceremony for memorandums of understanding (MoUs) between the GECF and the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and the African Energy Commission (AFREC) under the African Union (AU).

These collaborative initiatives underscore the GECF’s commitment to fostering partnerships and promoting dialogue to address shared challenges and opportunities in the global gas market. As energy ministers gather in Algiers, the meeting serves as a platform for advancing cooperation and charting a sustainable path forward for the natural gas industry.
