7th GECF Summit in Algiers: Ministerial Meeting Approves Senegal’s Membership Request

ALGIERS – The Secretary-General (SG) of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Mohamed Hamel, announced that the Forum’s ministers approved Senegal’s request for membership during their extraordinary meeting held Friday in Algiers, in preparation for the 7th Summit scheduled for Saturday.
“We are honored and delighted to announce Senegal’s membership in the GECF, following the unanimous approval of its request,” said Mr. Hamel in a press statement, jointly held with the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, at the conclusion of the meeting held at the Abdelatif Rahal International Conference Center (CIC).
“During this meeting,” he added, “the participating ministers unanimously approved all the documents to be submitted to the Summit.”
The GECF SG specified that the extraordinary ministerial meeting “was fruitful and constructive.”
