ALGIERS- In the 7th summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) held in Algiers, Iranian President Ebrahim Raissi articulated Iran’s ambition to emerge as a pivotal energy hub. Raissi highlighted Iran’s strategic advantages, including its substantial natural gas reserves, geographical positioning, and technological prowess, which collectively position Iran as a reliable conduit for the transit and distribution of natural gas among global suppliers and consumers.

Emphasizing Iran’s commitment to fostering regional cooperation, Raissi underscored Tehran’s readiness to collaborate with neighboring nations and beyond. He invited international investors, particularly from GECF member countries, to engage in Iran’s energy sector projects, with a specific focus on natural gas. Iran’s proactive stance underscores its determination to leverage its significant gas reserves for regional and global energy dynamics.

However, beyond energy discussions, President Raissi condemned the Zionist entity’s atrocities against Palestinians during his address at the summit. He vehemently criticized the criminal entity’s military aggression and the support it receives from the United States and Western nations, characterizing it as a “genocide” in Gaza.

Raissi proposed practical solutions to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis, advocating for international condemnation of the criminal entity’s actions and calling for immediate cessation of hostilities. He urged for global sanctions against this entity and its expulsion from international bodies, emphasizing the moral obligation to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.

Highlighting the failures of international institutions, Raissi criticized the United Nations Security Council for its inability to ensure a ceasefire due to U.S. support for the Zionist entity. He called for an end to arms sales to that entity, emphasizing the need for genuine efforts towards peace and security in the region.

President Raissi’s comprehensive address at the GECF summit underscores Iran’s multifaceted approach to regional and global issues, blending economic aspirations with a staunch advocacy for justice and humanitarian rights. As Iran seeks to enhance its role in the energy sector, it also amplifies its voice as a champion for oppressed communities, particularly in the Palestinian territories.
