ALGIERS – President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received his Iraqi counterpart, Abdellatif Jamal Rachid, at the international airport of Algiers, Houari Boumediene, today, Friday, in anticipation of his participation in the seventh summit of heads of state and government of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
The meeting, announced by the presidency in a statement, highlights the importance of diplomatic relations between Algeria and Iraq and underscores their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation in various fields, particularly in the energy sector.
President Tebboune’s reception of President Rachid demonstrates Algeria’s role as a key player in regional and international affairs and its willingness to foster dialogue and collaboration with fellow nations.
The GECF summit provides an opportunity for leaders from gas-exporting countries to discuss pertinent issues related to the global energy landscape, including market dynamics, sustainability, and economic development.
During his visit, President Rachid is expected to engage in bilateral discussions with President Tebboune and other participating leaders, aimed at exploring avenues for enhancing cooperation and addressing shared challenges in the energy sector.
The summit serves as a platform for reaffirming the commitment of gas-producing nations to advancing mutual interests and promoting stability and prosperity in the global energy market.
