Fight against cross-border crime: more than 9,200 cases handled in 2021

The operational services of National Security handled 9,270 cases at the border during the year 2021, according to the annual report presented, Thursday, by the Inspector of Services, the Comptroller General of Police, Arezki Hadj Said.

Speaking at a lively press briefing in Algiers, Hadj Said said that these cases relate to different offenses, in addition to 14 types of crimes, including forgery and use of forgery, drug trafficking, trafficking in weapons and ammunition, illegal stay, illegal infiltration of borders etc, claiming that the number of individuals involved in these crimes amounted to 10,012 individuals.

Compared to the year 2020, the number of cross-border crimes increased by 3,581 crimes (5,689 crimes in 2020), according to the same specialist who notes that the most processed cases in this area concern illegal stay in Algeria (3,095 cases ) involving 1822 individuals.
