Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ramtane Lamamra has held a working session with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, on Monday in Moscow (Russia), and has met with the head of the Security Council Russian Nikolai Patrushev, around the axes and prospects for strengthening cooperation between the two countries, said a press release from the ministry.
As part of the bilateral dimension of Lamamra’s working visit to Moscow, talks with senior Russian officials has focused on the “main lines of cooperation between Algeria and Russia, as well ways and means to strengthen it in various fields, in addition to questions relating to the preparation of the next bilateral meetings, and this to give a new dynamic to the mechanisms governing the strategic relations uniting the two countries”, the statement said.
Lamamra, it is recalled, has begun a visit to Moscow on Monday, accompanied by the Foreign Ministers of Jordan, Sudan, Iraq and Egypt, in addition to the Secretary General of the Arab League, in order to launch consultations with the Russian side and help find a diplomatic solution to the Ukrainian crisis.
