Ghardaia: the SG of the Union of Assemblies of OIC Member States visits the M’zab Valley

The Secretary General of the Union of Assemblies of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mohammad Niyaz Qureshi, has paid a visit on Saturday to the M’Zab Valley (Ghardaia), 600 km south of Algiers.

Accompanied by a parliamentary delegation made up of the vice-president of the National People’s Assembly (APN), Khelifa Benslimane, the secretary general of the APN, Azzeddine Khanouf, and Yazid Benhamouda, deputy, the secretary general of the Union of assemblies of member states of the OIC has visited the mosque of El Atik of the Ksar of Ghardaïa, as well as the Ksour of Tafilelt and Beni Isguen, the latter being classified by UNESCO as universal heritage since 1982.

This visit is part of the preparations for the next Union conference scheduled in Algeria, according to members of the parliamentary delegation.

At the head of a large delegation, Qureshi had been successively received last Thursday by the President of the APN, Brahim Boughali, and the President of the Council of the Nation, Salah Goudjil.

During a meeting at the Council of the Nation, Goudjil had presided over a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding between the administrations of the Algerian Parliament and the General Secretariat of the Union, in the presence of members of the two chambers of the parliament and representatives of the Union of Assemblies of OIC Member States.
