The severance of diplomatic relations between Algeria and Morocco “does not tolerate any mediation” and Algeria’s position in the matter “is unambiguous”, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad said on Saturday, Ramtane Lamamra.
In a statement to the press on the sidelines of his inspection of the conduct of tests for the external recruitment competition to join the corps of foreign affairs attachés and secretaries, at the level of Algiers examination center at the University of Sciences and Technologies Houari Boumediene (USTHB), Lamamra indicated that “this issue (breaking of diplomatic relations between Algiers and Rabat) does not tolerate any mediation”.
In response to a question about a possible Saudi mediation between Algeria and Morocco, the head of Algerian diplomacy affirmed that “there has been no mediation…there will never be, nor today, not tomorrow”, emphasizing “the strong reasons which attribute to the party at the origin of the deterioration of relations, full and complete responsibility”.
Algeria and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are linked by common interests and convergence of views and positions, in the same way as the other countries “whether Arab, African or other”, continued Lamamra recalling by the same as the statements of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on this subject.
