ALGIERS – In the ongoing effort to preserve public health, the road security unit of the National Gendarmerie in Sidi Moussa, on the east-west highway, intercepted a truck for routine inspection. “Upon examination of various documents and inspecting the truck, a quantity of red meat intended for human consumption was discovered emitting a foul odor. Consequently, the truck and its driver were detained and taken to the unit’s headquarters to complete the necessary procedures,” stated the Assistant First Gendarme Yacine Gaceb, Road Security Unit, Sidi Moussa National Gendarmerie.
After presenting the confiscated meat to the municipal veterinarian in Sidi Moussa, it was confirmed that the meat was unfit for both human and animal consumption. The operation resulted in the seizure of 22 sheep, totaling 290 kg of lamb meat, and 90 kg of beef.
Following the completion of all legal procedures in coordination with the relevant public prosecutor and specialized authorities, the confiscated goods were disposed of at the technical landfill in Al-Zaatria.
