Regarding its response to Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, the Chinese Embassy stressed that “It is normal for China to respond firmly, its position is justified, reasonable and legitimate, its countermeasures are firm, strong and appropriate, and its military exercises are open, transparent and professional, in accordance with national law, international law and practice, and aim to warn the perpetrators of the shameful act and teach a lesson to the forces seeking “Taiwan independence”. .
In this context, the embassy justified its country’s position by stating: “If the Chinese side does not categorically reject the senseless, irresponsible and highly irrational behavior of the United States, the principle of international relations on respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States will become a mere piece of paper, various separatists and extremist forces will intensify their activities, and this will seriously damage the hard-won peace and stability in the region. »
