Baddari kicks off the 2022/2023 academic year from Mascara

The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Kamel Baddari officially kicked off the 2022/2023 academic year on Saturday from “Mustapha Stambouli” University in Mascara.

Accompanied by local authorities and representatives of the university community, Mr. Baddari thus gave from Mascara the kick-off of the new university year which records 1,700,000 students, welcomed in the various university establishments of the country, including 333,000 new registrants, among new graduates.

The higher education sector has been strengthened for this new academic year by receiving 45,000 new educational places across the country, in addition to 20,000 beds received in several university residences in several wilayas.

The sector also benefited from the opening of 2,100 new teaching posts in order to strengthen the pedagogical supervision of higher education establishments, which made it possible to reach 65,000 teachers of different grades, including 47% with the grade of professors. .

The “Mustapha Stambouli” University of Mascara will welcome, this year, a staff of 22,500 students in the first and second cycles as well as 800 others in doctorate in addition to 5,922 new graduates, all spread over seven (7) faculties.

For this new season, the University has launched two (2) specialties, those of engineering in Computer Science and engineering in Science and Technology.

During his visit to Mascara, the Minister inaugurated a research center at the Faculty of Natural and Life Sciences in the Sidi Saïd district, as well as a “Kettoufi Mohamed” university residence with a capacity of 2,000 beds. Mr. Baddari also inquired about some research projects initiated at Mascara University.
