ALGIERS- The Minister of Health, Population and Hospital Reform, Abdelhak Sayhi, received, on Monday, at the headquarters of his ministerial department, the Portuguese ambassador to Algiers, Luis de Albuquerque Veloso, in the presence of officials from the central administration.
This meeting constituted an opportunity to review bilateral relations and means and ways of enhancing them to higher levels to serve the best interests of both countries.
The two parties also discussed the content of the memorandum of understanding signed in 2018, whose implementation was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In this regard, the two parties examined the possibility of reactivating it by signing a precise and specific agreement that includes several areas, including medical emergencies, training, research, technology and information system.
During the same meeting, the ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to move forward in order to strengthen the Algerian-Portuguese partnership, by organizing a bilateral summit and mutual visits between the two parties.
For his part, the Minister suggested the possibility of investing in Algeria in the health field, highlighting the incentives included in the new investment law, which allows this activity to be practiced with ease, which would give a strong impetus to foreign investments in Algeria.
