ALGIERS- The public prosecutor at the economic and financial penal pole of the Tribuanl of Sidi M’hamed (Algiers) requested, on Tuesday evening, an 18-year prison sentence against the former Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Sonatrach, Abdelmoumen Ould keddour, prosecuted in a corruption case linked to the acquisition of the Augusta refinery.
In the same case, the public prosecutor also requested a 10-year prison sentence against Nassim Ould Kaddour (the main defendant’ son) with the issuance of an international arrest warrant and five (5) years in prison against the wife of the main accused, Anissa Ouabdessalam.
Sentences ranging from 7 to 10 years were required against a number of former executives of Sonatrach, prosecuted in the same case, in addition to the confiscation of the assets seized during the investigation.
The trial began on Tuesday morning with the hearing of the accused and witnesses before moving on to the defense’s pleadings.
