ALGIERS- Up to 480,000 tonnes of milling wheat were purchased by Algeria’s state grains agency OAIC in an international tender on Tuesday, as declared by European traders quoted by nasdaq news website.
Traders said they believed the bulk of the wheat was traded at between $367 to $368 a tonne.
Although technically supplies are optional origin, a significant part of the purchased wheat will be delivered from Russia, a small amount – from France, according to traders.
The wheat was sought for shipment in two periods from the main supply regions including Europe, from Dec. 1-15 and Dec. 16-31. If sourced from South America or Australia, the delivery dates will be moved one month earlier.
Last October, Algeria’s state grains agency OAIC bought about 480,000 tonnes to 510,000 tonnes of milling wheat in an international tender.
