Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Yacine Hamadi, stressed Thursday in Algiers the need to strengthen and promote tourist investments in the capital, which he described as a tourist destination par excellence.
During an inspection visit of tourism projects carried out and in progress in the capital, accompanied by the wali of Algiers, Mohamed Abdenour Rabhi, the minister called for efforts to be made so that the projects are completed on time. granted in compliance with international standards in force, especially since the wilaya, he said, is “an important center in various fields and a tourist destination par excellence”.
In this context, Mr. Hamadi recalled the new law on investment, which provides incentives for the benefit of investors, particularly in the field of tourism, stressing that “the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, had granted the tourism a particular importance in its program, because considering this sector as an important lever of economic development”.
In this regard, the minister insisted on the importance of completing the tourism projects underway before the next summer season.
Mr. Hamadi further called on investors to expand their projects by targeting other regions of the country, especially in the south, which he said remains an important destination for all tourists given its natural, cultural and historical diversity. .
During his visit, the first person in charge of the sector inaugurated a sports hotel and inspected the project of extension of the tourist and sports complex of the administrative district of Sidi Abdallah.
The Minister also inaugurated the Atlantis hotel in the administrative district of Bouzareah and the Royal Sahel hotel in the administrative district of Bir Mourad Rais, stressing the need to recruit qualified manpower for their management in order to improve the quality of services.
Mr. Hamadi also visited the International Crafts Fair, the 23rd edition of which gives pride of place to trades, especially those that are endangered.
He then inspected the development and modernization project of the Es-safir Hotel, calling for the completion of the works during the first half of 2023.
The wilaya of Algiers has 217 hotel establishments with a total capacity of more than 14,000 beds which have created more than 11,000 jobs, according to statistics from the Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts.
307 investment projects are registered, which should provide more than 49,000 beds and create 14,000 jobs.
Five (5) new hotel establishments will come into service during the 2023 summer season and ten (10) others at the end of the same year, knowing that the capital has 13 Tourism Expansion Zones (ZET).
