Algiers, Algeria | June 29th, 2024 — The Algerian government, under the steadfast leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to supporting productive investments, value creation, job generation, increased integration rates of national industries, import substitution, self-sufficiency goals, food security, and export diversification. These pillars form the foundation of the new economic policy aimed at revitalizing the national economy, a commitment that President Tebboune emphatically reiterated during the official inauguration of the 55th edition of the Algiers International Fair (FIA) on Monday. The event continues at the Exhibitions Palace at Pins Maritimes, featuring 700 national and international exhibitors.

During his visit to the stand of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (Aapi), President Tebboune emphasized the crucial importance that public authorities place on creating activities and jobs. He addressed Aapi officials, stating, “The machine has started, and now all procedures must be accelerated, and full responsibilities must be assumed.” The Aapi serves as a unique interface for project developers and a critical administrative arm of the state, ensuring the effective implementation of measures and actions aimed at liberating and facilitating investment activities.
“When You Can’t, We Are Here”
Expressing satisfaction with the efforts made by the agency over the past two years, President Tebboune reaffirmed the state’s full support to bolster these efforts, aiming to accelerate the national economy’s revival. He assured the Aapi Director-General, “When you can’t, we are here… We are your support.” The Director-General reported a total investment amount of 3500 billion dinars registered with the agency, encompassing nearly 7500 projects, including 129 involving foreign investors. President Tebboune emphasized job creation objectives and the balanced and effective distribution of investment projects across the national territory. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that different regions, such as Saïda, Djelfa, Laghouat, and Khenchela, benefit from investment projects, with Khenchela slated for the installation of a significant industrial zone.

These strong and unequivocal messages reflect the state’s commitment to promoting investment and developing national production. President Tebboune reiterated this commitment during his visits to the stands of several companies at this year’s FIA edition. He highlighted key economic sectors, including military industries, startups, steel, electronics, agro-food, and other industries, for their significant production potential. He called for increased investments and higher integration levels to satisfy national needs first and to develop exports in a second phase. “We must move to the next stage,” he urged, assuring the state’s total availability to fully support investors, wealth creators, and job generators.
