Algiers, Algeria | July 2nd 2024 — In a move to comply with international standards on baggage transportation and passenger safety, Air Algérie revised its baggage policy.
Revised Baggage Allowances
The new policy permits only one checked bag weighing up to 23 kg and a single cabin bag with a maximum weight of 10 kg (5 kg for ATR flights). Air Algérie has reiterated these conditions to its passengers, particularly during the busy summer travel season, through a widely disseminated notice.
Specific Dimensions for Cabin Baggage
Passengers are now required to adhere strictly to the specified dimensions for cabin baggage. On all flights, cabin bags must not exceed 35 cm in height, 55 cm in width, and 25 cm in thickness. For ATR flights, the dimensions are further restricted to 30 cm in height, 40 cm in width, and 20 cm in thickness.
Fees for Additional Cabin Baggage
The airline’s communiqué clearly states, “Only one hand baggage is allowed in the cabin, with a maximum weight of 10 kg.” Furthermore, passengers are responsible for carrying their own hand luggage. If a passenger exceeds the allowed limit, any additional piece of baggage identified at the boarding gate will incur a fee of 140 euros at certain airports, including Lyon, and up to 180 euros at other Air Algérie bases.
New Contact Number for Customer Inquiries
In addition to the baggage policy update, Air Algérie has announced a new contact number for its call center. Passengers can now obtain information regarding potential delays or flight disruptions by calling 3302. To better serve its clientele, the airline has also introduced an English-speaking team to assist with inquiries, enhancing overall communication and support for passengers.
