Algiers, Algeria | July 3rd, 2024 — In a significant effort to address the housing needs of the Algerian population, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune inaugurated the distribution of over 250,000 housing units on Wednesday in the new city of Sidi Abdallah. This substantial initiative coincides with the 62nd anniversary of Algeria’s independence, highlighting the government’s dedication to improving living conditions for its citizens.
Extensive Housing Distribution
Minister of Housing Tarek Belaribi announced that a total of 251,890 housing units would be distributed through this extensive operation. During the launch ceremony, President Tebboune emphasized the substantial efforts made by Algeria in the housing sector. “Some wanted chaos to prevail in the country through the housing crisis,” he remarked, expressing gratitude towards the staff of the housing sector, from Minister Belaribi to the last employee, for their dedication and hard work.
Highlighting Major Housing Projects
President Tebboune highlighted significant housing projects such as Sidi Abdallah, Bouinan, and the new city Ali Mendjeli in Constantine, underscoring Algeria’s unmatched achievements in the housing domain. “No country, not even developed or oil-rich nations, can match us in this field. There is no equivalent example in the world,” he asserted.
Commitment to Continued Housing Development
During his visit to Sidi Abdallah, President Tebboune reaffirmed the state’s ongoing commitment to housing development. He inaugurated the distribution of 251,890 housing units of various types, effective from Wednesday, July 3, across the national territory. In his speech at the launch ceremony, President Tebboune made a solemn promise: “We will continue until all needs are met because I am convinced that from a social, economic, or even political standpoint, housing is the true foundation of building a strong economy. When the construction sector thrives, everything else follows.”
Enhancing Quality of Life and Economic Growth
This ambitious housing distribution initiative not only addresses immediate housing shortages but also lays the groundwork for sustained economic growth and social stability in Algeria. By prioritizing housing, the Algerian government aims to enhance the quality of life for its citizens and support broader national development goals.
The launch of this massive housing distribution by President Tebboune signifies a major step forward in Algeria’s efforts to improve living conditions and support national development.
