Global Leaders Extend Heartfelt Congratulations to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune on Algeria’s 70th Revolution Anniversary

Algiers, Algeria | November 01st, 2024 — In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Algeria’s historic War of Liberation, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune received an outpouring of congratulatory messages from leaders across the globe, recognizing the monumental significance of Algeria’s struggle and its continuing impact on global liberation efforts. Leaders of  China, Belgium, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sweden, Palestine, and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic expressed their solidarity and appreciation, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening ties with Algeria.

The Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, extended warm wishes to President Tebboune and the Algerian people, celebrating Algeria’s enduring progress and prosperity. King Salman underscored the unique spiritual and historical bonds shared by both nations, highlighting Algeria’s influence as a beacon of resilience and unity in the Arab world.

King Philippe of Belgium conveyed his hopes for deepened friendship and collaboration between Belgium and Algeria, emphasizing his desire to foster a lasting partnership that would benefit both nations. He expressed optimism for continued peace and prosperity for Algeria, lauding its legacy as a country built upon principles of freedom and resistance.

President Xi Jinping of China sent his heartfelt congratulations, stressing the strategic, long-term relationship that connects Algeria and China. In his message, President Xi praised the “deep-rooted traditional friendship” between the two nations and expressed his willingness to work hand in hand with President Tebboune to reinforce mutual trust, expand cooperation in diverse fields, and jointly support initiatives that reflect shared principles on the global stage.

Irish President Michael Higgins extended his best wishes to Algeria, commending the shared values of independence and self-determination that bind Algeria and Ireland. He conveyed his hopes for Algeria’s ongoing prosperity, acknowledging Algeria’s historical struggle as a cornerstone of its national identity and international standing.

The Sahrawi President, Brahim Ghali, leader of the Polisario Front, marked this occasion by reflecting on Algeria’s pivotal role as a symbol of global anti-colonial resistance, calling the Algerian liberation struggle “a timeless inspiration for oppressed peoples worldwide.” Ghali emphasized that Algeria’s support of the Sahrawi people’s quest for freedom echoes its own history, with Algeria steadfastly upholding the rights of those facing colonial domination.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi expressed warm wishes to President Tebboune, celebrating the shared history and enduring fraternal ties between Algeria and Egypt. President el-Sisi pledged to strengthen these historic bonds through close cooperation, highlighting the commitment of both countries to addressing regional challenges together for the benefit of their peoples.

King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden offered his congratulations to President Tebboune, voicing his hopes for Algeria’s continued progress and international prominence. His message of solidarity acknowledged the lasting impact of Algeria’s liberation movement as a source of inspiration and pride.

In a powerful expression of solidarity, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas saluted Algeria’s unwavering support for Palestine, praising its humanitarian and economic aid and its role on the UN Security Council as a steadfast advocate for Palestinian unity and reconciliation. President Abbas commended Algeria’s dedication to international justice and its critical leadership in advancing the Palestinian cause on the world stage.
