Algiers, Algeria | December 19th, 2024 — In a monumental affirmation of Algeria’s industrial prowess and economic resilience, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune inaugurated the 32nd edition of the Algerian Production Fair on Thursday at the Palace of Exhibitions in Algiers. This premier event, held under the high patronage of the President, stands as a testament to Algeria’s unwavering commitment to bolstering its domestic production and economic sovereignty.

Organized by Algeria Exhibitions, a subsidiary of SAFEX, and supervised by the Ministry of Internal Trade and Regulation of the National Market, the event, running from December 19 to 28, convenes over 600 exhibitors spanning various sectors under the theme: “Our Production, Pillar of Our Sovereignty.”

A Grand Inaugural Ceremony

Upon his arrival, President Tebboune was welcomed by an array of high-ranking officials, including the Minister of Internal Trade and Market Regulation, the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defense, the Wali of Algiers, local elected representatives, and the President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA).

Before officially inaugurating the fair, the President attended a detailed briefing by Tayeb Zitouni, the Minister of Internal Trade and Market Regulation, on the activities and achievements of Algerian economic enterprises. The visit commenced with a tour of the Ministry of National Defense’s (MDN) pavilion, where the President received an in-depth presentation on the remarkable capacities and contributions of entities affiliated with the People’s National Army (ANP).

Military Industry: The Driving Force of National Progress

The President commended the advanced state of Algeria’s military industry, underscoring its vital role as “the locomotive of national industry.” Highlighting the importance of self-reliance, he called for an increased integration rate in military manufacturing to reach between 50% and 60%.

The MDN pavilion showcased groundbreaking advancements from various military establishments, including the Seriana Industrial Works (Batna), the Naval Construction and Repair Facility, the Aeronautical Construction Facility, the Algerian Company for Industrial and Technical Textiles, and the Central Logistics Base. These entities have become symbols of Algeria’s capability to innovate and achieve industrial self-sufficiency.

A Showcase of Algeria’s Economic Potential

Spanning over 28,000 square meters, the exhibition features Algeria’s leading public and private enterprises. It hosts a diverse array of sectors, including agro-industrial production, manufacturing, electronics, petrochemicals, energy, construction materials, and textiles. This year’s edition also emphasizes startups, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and artisans, reflecting the nation’s inclusive approach to economic development.

The event is enhanced by a promotional sales area, offering visitors the opportunity to purchase locally produced goods directly from exhibitors. Coinciding with the winter school holidays, this initiative aims to maximize public engagement and bolster support for Algerian products.

Advancing Local Production Through Dialogue

In addition to showcasing Algeria’s industrial achievements, the fair includes a series of economic forums and discussions beginning Sunday. These gatherings will explore critical topics surrounding the challenges and prospects of local production, fostering collaboration among economic actors and charting a path forward for sustainable growth.
