ALGIERS– The 3rd deep-sea fishing boat (tuna boat)with 35 meters long, built by a private Algerian company, was received, on Wednesday, at the port of Zemmouri (east of Boumerdes).
“This is the 3rd deep-sea fishing boat made by this private company, which has already delivered two similar boats on May 7, 2022”, indicated the director of fishing and fishery resources of the wilaya, Kadri Cherif, following the operations of reception and the withdrawal of the ship from the port basin of Zemmouri to carry out the necessary experimental tests.
These three boats (tuna boats) made by the private shipbuilding, maintenance and repair company “CORENAV”, active for years in the port of Zemmouri with integration rates above 65%, “constitute the first Algerian consecration of this type in the field of shipbuilding and maintenance,” added the same official.
Two new ships under construction
He also highlighted the ongoing construction, by the same company, of two (2) new similar vessels in its workshop at the port of Zemmouri, with a progress rate of more than 20%.
“Entered into service in 2002, on an area of 4000 M2 inside the port of Zemmouri, CORENAV is currently striving to diversify its activities after having obtained a decision to extend its activity to an additional land of 2,400 M2 in within the same port,” said its manager, Ali Chaoueche, adding that the company aims to expand its activity and launch another investment in the extra-port activity zone, currently under development.
COREVAV is known for having made major investments, including the acquisition and installation of a floating bridge, at the level of the same port, for the docking of boats.
