Algiers, Algeria | February 24th, 2025 — Algerian Minister of Interior, Local Assemblies, and Territorial Planning, Brahim Merad, is undertaking a two-day official visit to Spain on February 24-25, at the invitation of his Spanish counterpart, Fernando Grande-Marlaska Gómez. According to an official statement from the Algerian Interior Ministry, the discussions will encompass a broad spectrum of pressing topics, including counterterrorism strategies, transnational crime prevention, migration management, and the modernization of local governance mechanisms.

Given Algeria’s pivotal role as a security and stability guarantor in North Africa and the Mediterranean, Minister Merad’s dialogue with Spanish officials is expected to emphasize the importance of coordinated intelligence-sharing and joint security initiatives to combat organized crime, illicit trafficking, and irregular migration flows.
