President Tebboune Inaugurates Strategic Seawater Desalination Plant in El Tarf

Algiers, Algeria | February 26th, 2025 — President Abdelmadjid Tebboune arrived on Wednesday at Rabah Bitat International Airport in Annaba to oversee the official inauguration of the state-of-the-art Kedia Draouch Seawater Desalination Plant, a flagship infrastructure project aimed at bolstering Algeria’s water security. Situated in the commune of Brihan within the coastal province of El Tarf, this ambitious facility is set to play a crucial role in ensuring a sustainable and reliable water supply for the region.

 

The plant represents a major breakthrough in Algeria’s national strategy to mitigate water scarcity, exacerbated by climate change and fluctuating precipitation levels. With a high-capacity output, the facility is designed to provide potable water to thousands of households, alleviating the burden on conventional water sources and reinforcing the country’s resilience against prolonged droughts.
