Increase in retirement pension: More than three million people affected, with retroactive effect

ALGIERS- More than three million retirees are affected by the increase in their pensions that will take place as of next June with retroactive effect, according to the director general of the National Pensions Fund (CNR), Djaafar Abdelli.

President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who chaired, on Sunday, a meeting of the Council of Ministers devoted to bills relating to several sectors, ordered an annual review of pensions, on May 1 of each year.

As part of the continuous improvement of the standard of living of citizens, and in addition to previous increases approved by the President for pensioners, the Council of Ministers agreed to reassess pensions, annually, starting as of May 1, as follows:

5% for the category with a pension less than or equal to 20,000 dinars; 4% for the category whose pension exceeds 20,000 dinars and is less than or equal to 50,000 dinars and 3% for the category whose pension exceeds 50,000 Algerian dinars.
