ALGIERS- The Director General of the Water and Disinfection Company (SEAAL), Lyes Mihoubi, has reassured citizens that there will be an abundance of water during the upcoming Eid al-Adha celebrations. However, he also emphasized the importance of consuming water rationally during this festival.
Mihoubi explained that water consumption is expected to peak during Eid al-Adha, compared to normal days. To address this, SEAAL has established an action plan to increase production capacity, ensuring adequate water provision and distribution. This will enable citizens to comfortably enjoy the two-day celebration.
During the signing ceremony of a strategic meters and leak detection agreement between SEAAL and cosider, as well as an agreement to launch a specialized training program in seawater desalination between SEAAL and the vocational training sector, Mihoubi revealed that SEAAL will produce 1.1 million cubic meters of water per day during Eid al-Adha, compared to the usual 800,000 cubic meters per day. However, he also noted that the large quantity produced during Eid al-Adha is consumed in just four hours.
In light of this, Mihoubi called on citizens to consume water rationally and avoid wastage. This will ensure that everyone can access this vital substance throughout the blessed Eid al-Adha days.
