ALGIERS- In a significant diplomatic move, Mr. Allal Bouthaldja, Vice-Speaker of the People’s National Assembly, and Deputy Ibrahim Dekhinat were received by Mr. Tiny Kox, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, along with Ms. Stefania Kruger, First Assistant, in Strasbourg on Thursday, June 22, 2023. The meeting aimed to evaluate the existing relationship between the two parliamentary bodies and explore avenues for fostering continued dialogue and collaborative efforts that serve the interests of both parties.
The meeting proved to be an opportune platform for the two Algerian deputies to shed light on Algeria’s role and experience in addressing pressing issues such as clandestine immigration. Additionally, they discussed Algeria’s contribution to promoting stability in the Mediterranean region.
The Algerian deputies traveled to Strasbourg specifically to participate in the third regular session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, which commenced on June 19 and will continue until the 23rd of this month.
The encounter between the Algerian MPs and the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe highlights the significance of inter-parliamentary relations and the value of constructive engagement between nations.
