Algiers, Algeria | December 5th, 2024 — In an electrifying introduction on Dzair Tube, one of Algeria’s leading news platforms, renowned journalist Hamza Rezig did not hold back in delivering a fierce condemnation of French President Emmanuel Macron, whose political missteps have sparked public outrage both domestically and internationally. With a sharp tongue and unmatched clarity, Rezig’s opening remarks took the French leader to task for the “flawed and misguided” political vision.
Rezig’s words reverberated with anger as he meticulously dissected Macron’s recent failures, stating that “the poor president is finally paying the price for his foolish policies”—a sentiment that underscores the mounting pressure faced by the French leader amidst growing discontent within France and beyond. The journalist lambasted Macron’s “blind” and “sickening” involvement in foreign affairs, particularly in Africa, where his actions have been criticized as self-serving and out of touch with the real needs of African nations. Rezig’s critique came at a time when France’s global influence has been challenged, and the French president is facing internal political turmoil.
In his relentless critique, Rezig did not shy away from calling out Macron’s inability to lead effectively, stressing that the French president’s “crooked” vision is built on “a fragile foundation,” destined for failure. “Your vision is doomed,” Rezig warned, as he sharply contrasted Macron’s approach to that of the people of Africa, whose dignity and independence Macron has consistently undermined. “When you stick your nose into matters that don’t concern you and align yourself with individuals whose actions stain the very idea of justice, you must accept the consequences,” Rezig said with disdain, referring to Macron’s controversial foreign policy interventions.
Rezig further magnified the French president’s woes, pointing out the recent collapse of Macron’s government. “Today, the French parliament delivered a powerful slap to Macron’s face,” Rezig noted, highlighting the government’s swift demise as a reflection of its own illegitimacy. “What is built on lies will crumble, and Macron’s government is no exception,” he added, underscoring the failure of Macron’s political apparatus, which Rezig asserted was merely a puppet serving the interests of foreign powers rather than the French people.
In a scathing final remark, Rezig warned Macron that his time in power is running out. “Your system is crumbling, Macron. Your political game is over. The fall is inevitable, and when it comes, you will only have yourself to blame for the chaos and bloodshed you’ve sown,” Rezig declared. He concluded with a powerful call for Macron to reflect on the real consequences of his actions, urging him to learn from the past and recognize that there are “bigger forces” at play, forces that will soon dismantle his failed political empire.
This fiery and uncompromising rhetoric from Rezig shines a spotlight on the deepening divisions between France and its former colonies, and serves as a reminder that Africa is no longer willing to tolerate the meddling and exploitation that has defined its relations with the West for centuries.
As Algerian journalists, we wholeheartedly join Hamza Rezig’s powerful statement in denouncing France’s consistent interference in Algeria’s internal affairs. A glaring example of this meddling is seen in the case of Boualem Sansal, a so-called author whose criticisms of his country have found sympathetic support within French institutions. France’s actions, in bolstering figures like Sansal, reveal a troubling agenda aimed at influencing Algeria’s political narrative and undermining its sovereignty.
Algeria, however, has always stood firm in rejecting foreign interference, and it will never accept any attempts to impose foreign influence on its government or people. Our sovereignty is a red line, one that will never be crossed. The case of Sansal is just one example of France’s enduring attempts to shape Algeria’s internal political discourse. Yet, these attempts will not succeed, as Algeria’s independence and national unity have been forged through struggle and sacrifice.
We, as Algerian writers and intellectuals, stand united in our commitment to defending our nation’s right to determine its own path, free from any external control. Our sovereignty is non-negotiable, and we will continue to reject any form of neo-colonial interference in our affairs. Algeria’s government and people will not bow to any foreign power that seeks to undermine the principles of freedom and self-determination that define our nation.
