Algiers- Algeria, May 11, 2024 – Abdelali Hassani Cherif, President of the Movement for Society and Peace (MSP), emphasized the upcoming presidential elections’ significance for Algeria, urging all citizens to contribute to their success. Speaking at a regional meeting of female cadres of the MSP from the Western provinces at the Zeddour Brahim Belkacem Cultural Center in Oran, Cherif highlighted that the elections represent a crucial opportunity for the political class and citizens from all walks of life to work towards unity and stability.
Cherif underscored the importance of these elections against the backdrop of international changes, regional risks, intense global power competition, ongoing transformations in the Sahel region and Africa, and the effects of global crises in security, economics, and science. He stressed the need for the Algerian political class to find common ground in organizing democratic presidential elections, emphasizing democratic interaction and fair competition while avoiding past experiences’ pitfalls that closed off political practice, weakened the role of parties, and distorted the electoral process.
“The MSP is a political partner that encompasses all policies, programs, and initiatives that preserve the unity, sovereignty, independence, economic growth, and development of Algeria in a positive sense,” Cherif stated, emphasizing that the MSP does not engage in nihilism in its political approaches and positions.
Furthermore, Cherif called on MSP activists to engage with current priorities, participate in all political and social activities that serve the country and society, and support Palestinian women facing aggression from the Zionist enemy.
This meeting comes at a critical juncture for Algeria, with preparations underway for presidential elections that will shape the country’s future trajectory.
