Abdelkader Bengrina Commends Democratic Spirit in Presidential Election, Encourages Higher Participation

Algiers, Algeria | September 7th, 2024 —  Following his vote in Algeria’s crucial presidential election, Abdelkader Bengrina, leader of the El-Bina Movement, expressed his satisfaction with the electoral process and emphasized the importance of high voter participation. “We have arrived at the stage of fulfilling our electoral duty after numerous phases, where we worked tirelessly to contribute to the success of this national election. We are confident that this will be reflected in voter turnout and the popular embrace of this democratic process,” Bengrina stated, stressing the importance of lawful and responsible efforts that prioritized the nation’s welfare. He contrasted these efforts with those of the so-called “enemies of Algeria” who sought to undermine the process.

Bengrina urged for a higher voter turnout than in previous elections, seeing it as a reflection of the nation’s growing awareness of the significant challenges it faces. “We hope the voter turnout exceeds that of previous elections, as it will reflect the level of awareness among the people about the challenges we worked hard to address and explain across all social groups,” he remarked.

The El-Bina leader expressed his satisfaction with the conduct of the presidential campaign, praising the atmosphere that allowed all candidates to present their programs and visions freely. “We are pleased with the environment in which this electoral campaign was conducted, which enabled all candidates to display their programs. This underscores the transparent and open nature of this election,” he said.

Bengrina also extended his congratulations to the three other candidates, commending their commitment to a positive and democratic competition. “I offer sincere congratulations to my fellow candidates for their commitment to democratic competition without any personal attacks. This has strengthened the democratic process and the exercise of freedoms in Algeria,” he added, reflecting on the civil tone of the campaign.

Addressing the skepticism surrounding Algeria’s democracy, Bengrina firmly rejected any attempts to undermine the legitimacy of the election, emphasizing his belief that the Algerian people would make the right choice. “We reject all attempts to cast doubt on the democracy of the new Algeria. I am confident that the Algerian people will choose the right candidate to lead the nation as President,” he declared.

As this election is set to mark a historic moment for Algeria, Bengrina hopes it will be remembered as a major milestone in strengthening the country’s democratic path. “This election is a historic event that will be recorded in golden letters as part of the process of enhancing democratic practices in Algeria and building strong institutions,” he remarked.

Bengrina concluded by expressing his gratitude for the overwhelming support his party received during the campaign and thanking the Independent National Electoral Authority for ensuring fairness and equality among all candidates. “We highly appreciate the great response from citizens throughout the campaign, and we extend our thanks to the Independent National Electoral Authority for ensuring a fair environment for all candidates,” he stated.

Finally, Bengrina emphasized that the ultimate decision lies with the Algerian people. “The final word belongs to the citizens, who are sovereign in their choice and will decide who will take on the responsibility of leading the country for the next five years,” he concluded, calling for respect for the democratic process.
