Algiers, Algeria | October 12th, 2024 — In a compelling lecture delivered at the “Al Quds Knowledge Institutes”, Abdelkader Bengrina, President of the El-Bina Movement, underscored the enduring bond between Algeria and Palestine, framing the Palestinian struggle as not just a regional issue, but a critical focal point in the global fight against colonialism and oppression. The event, attended by a diverse audience, served as a rallying call for unity among Arab nations and a testament to Algeria’s historical commitment to the Palestinian cause.

Bengrina opened his discourse with a poignant reminder of the power of collective resistance. He quoted the Quran, stating, “And if it had not been that Allah checks one set of people by another, the earth would have been corrupted.” This verse set the tone for his lecture, emphasizing that the struggle for freedom and dignity is not merely a matter of national pride but a moral and spiritual obligation shared by all Muslims.

He traced the roots of Algeria’s support for Palestine, beginning with the historical connections forged during the early 20th century. From the time of Sidi Boumediene to contemporary leaders, Bengrina detailed how Algerian nationalists had consistently advocated for Palestinian rights. He highlighted the role of the Association of Muslim Algerian Scholars and the People’s Party in mobilizing support during the major Palestinian revolts of the 1930s, which collected funds and resources for the beleaguered Palestinian population.

The lecture was not only a reflection on the past but also a stark analysis of the current geopolitical landscape. Bengrina asserted that the Algerian struggle for independence could not be deemed complete while Palestine remains under occupation. He passionately declared, “Algeria’s independence cannot be complete without Palestine’s independence,” echoing the sentiments of various Algerian leaders throughout history who have linked the two struggles. His statements resonated deeply with the audience, who were reminded of the sacrifices made by countless martyrs in both struggles.

Bengrina also addressed the urgent need for solidarity and collaboration among Arab nations. He criticized the divisive tactics employed by colonial powers that seek to weaken the collective strength of the Arab world. “We must not allow the historical ties that bind us to be severed by conspiracies and agendas that only serve to divide us further,” he stated, calling for a united front against the pervasive threats of imperialism and colonialism that continue to plague the region.

The President of the El-Bina Movement underscored the importance of grassroots activism and the role of the youth in sustaining the struggle for liberation. He encouraged the audience to engage actively in promoting the Palestinian cause, whether through education, advocacy, or direct support. “Every individual has a role to play in this fight. Our youth are our hope, and their passion for justice is our most potent weapon,” Bengrina asserted.

Concluding his lecture, Bengrina reaffirmed Algeria’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people, citing numerous historical instances where Algerians fought alongside Palestinians against their common oppressors. He stressed that the fight for justice in Palestine is a shared responsibility, urging all nations to stand in solidarity with those who continue to suffer under occupation.
