Acquisition of new aircraft: Air Algérie signs with Boeing

ALGIERS- The national airline Air Algérie signed, this Wednesday, May 17, a contract with the American aeronautical manufacturer Boeing for the acquisition of eight (8) new medium carrier aircraft type B 737-9 Max (module 170-210 seats).
The contract was signed by Air Algerie CEO Yacine Benslimane and Boeing commercial aircraft contracts manager Laura Wolfe-Schutle.
“Air Algérie today signed an agreement with the American company (Boeing, editor’s note) for the acquisition of 8 type B 737-9 Max aircraft,” said Yacine Benslimane.
Explaining that “this acquisition is part of the modernization of the company’s fleet”, he said that the first aircraft will be delivered in 2027.
In September 2022, Air Algérie launched an international consultation for the acquisition of 15 new aircraft. Bids for bidders were opened in November last year.
On April 27, the airline announced the provisional award of the contract to the American aircraft manufacturers Boeing and Airbus.
According to the details of the provisional contract award notice, Boeing will supply Air Algérie with 8 medium-bodied aircraft of type B 737-9 Max, and Airbus will supply 7 wide-bodied aircraft, including 5 of type A 350-900 and 2 of type A 350-1000.
Air Algérie has also launched an international consultation to charter 10 planes through operational leasing.
