ALGIERS | April 25, 2024- The African Digital Summit, ongoing until April 25th at the Palace of Culture, marks the fusion with the ICT Maghreb exhibition. The objective is to position Algeria as a technological leader by showcasing 100% Algerian digital solutions, aiming to expand into international markets.

Bachir Tadjeddine, a representative of the Algerian Group of Digital Actors (GAAN), the event’s organizer, emphasized that this merger isn’t just about creating a larger exhibition but is a vision that will be rolled out with roadshows across Africa. In November, Algerian companies will participate in the Taqnia exhibition in Libya, with plans for exhibitions in Senegal and Ivory Coast as well. The goal is to create synergies with partners across the continent.

This edition of the summit aims to showcase the potential to foreign countries participating in the event. Tadjeddine highlighted the importance of exporting internet, emphasizing that lack of a seaport makes internet connection challenging, but Algeria is developing a backbone to Africa with a bandwidth of 9.8 Tbit/s, exceeding its needs, and allowing for internet export.

The African Digital Summit brings together over 200 companies presenting digital solutions for both the general public and professionals. Tadjeddine stressed the significance of promoting startups, stating that young companies in the digital field develop innovative solutions but struggle to grow due to the limited local market. The goal is to support these companies under a national label to offer their solutions abroad.

Prizy: Digitized Gift Cards Solution

Prizy, a startup offering a digital gift card solution, has managed to secure a market in Ivory Coast just three years after its inception. The solution allows companies to offer vouchers to their employees, spendable at various retailers, which isn’t possible with a paper voucher. Recipients receive a QR code and secret code; the partner store scans the code for validation.

Prizy has 102 clients, 111 stores, and around thirty online sales websites, providing flexibility for recipients to shop online in areas with limited physical stores.

Yinvesti: A Lever for Successful Partnerships

Yinvesti is a platform connecting entrepreneurs and investors. Entrepreneurs present their projects to potential investors, and Yinvesti assists in negotiations. Recently approved for crowdfunding by the COSOB, the platform ensures project eligibility before publication.

The platform currently has 207 entrepreneurs and 126 investors.

Slick Pay: All Your Cards in One App

Slick Pay is an application allowing users to consolidate their bank cards and accounts into a single app. Users can access digital products, phone recharges, money transfers, and cashing. The application ensures transaction security and is PCI DSS certified. A new version, Slickshop, will allow merchants to replace traditional POS terminals with smartphones, offering convenience and wider customer reach.
