ALGIERS- The second edition of the Eastern International Agriculture, Agri-Food, and Packaging Exhibition (Agrest-Expo) kicked off on Thursday at the Ahmed Bey Hall in Constantine. The event, which boasts the participation of 157 Algerian and foreign exhibitors, was reported by the APS agency.
The exhibition was inaugurated by the wali of Constantine, Abdelkhalek Sayouda, who toured the various stands showcasing raw, processed, and packaged agricultural products, as well as chemical products for agricultural use, equipment, and industrial materials. Notably, some of these products are exported to African countries.
During a press statement, Mr. Sayouda emphasized the significant progress made in manufacturing products that were previously imported, now being produced locally by talented young individuals and national companies. He expressed his belief that Agrest-Expo provides a valuable opportunity for farmers and industrialists to meet, collaborate, and learn about public support systems, as well as offers from banking institutions and insurance companies.
The exhibition, which will run until the following Sunday, brings together both public and private national companies, along with 40 representatives from foreign brands hailing from countries such as China, Turkey, and Italy. This event aligns with the country’s commitment to ensuring food security.
Organizers have reported a 25% increase in the number of exhibitors compared to the first edition of the event. They believe this growth reflects the heightened ambition of investors and the improved business climate, thanks to new incentives provided by the state.
