Agricultural zone Dhayat El Bagra (El Bayadh): Mobile electricity production station inaugurated

ALGIERS-  The Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, inaugurated, on Tuesday, the mobile station for the production of electricity via gas (20 megawatts) in the agricultural zone “Dhayat El Bagra” in the commune of Brizina (wilaya of El Bayadh).

The mobile station was constructed by Sonelgaz for a total cost of more than 232 million DA. According to the explanations provided on the spot, thanks to this station, the coverage of the agricultural areas of Brezina will be ensured, in particular the agricultural perimeter of the region whose total area exceeds 200,000 hectares.

During his inspection of this station, Mr. Arkab underlined that it was “made in a short time by Algerian skills” and “should give a great service to the agricultural extension of the region”.

The Minister added that this achievement will constitute “a cornerstone” for the construction of other electricity production stations through turbines and solar energy intended for the agricultural sector in other wilayas of the country.

For his part, the CEO of Sonelgaz, Mourad Adjal, underlined, on the sidelines of the visit, that “the total number of farms identified so far for connection to the electricity network across the country is estimated at 62,000 farms that will be connected.”
