ALGIERS- The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mohamed Abdelhafid Henni, supervised, Tuesday in Tindouf, the inauguration of the refrigeration, storage, and distribution complex with a total capacity estimated at 5,000 m3, according to a press release from the ministry.
This complex, inaugurated by the minister in the company of the wali of Tindouf and the local authorities, belongs to the public economic company EPE/SPA (Frigomédit).
This project is part of the development and preservation of agricultural products and contributes directly to the promotion of exports with neighboring countries as part of trade in the region, added the press release quoted by the APS agency.
According to the same source, the project also aims to supply the wilaya with strategic consumer products and to regulate the local market with a view to consolidating commercial activity in the wilaya, providing jobs for the population, and promoting exports in the framework of the development of border areas.
Mr. Henni had chaired during his visit, Tuesday, in the wilaya of Tindouf, the installation of the Interprofessional Council of the Argan Sector on the occasion of the celebration of the International Day of the Argan Tree, coinciding with May 10 of each year.
The minister insisted on the major importance of the argan tree, known for its countless economic, social, and ecological virtues, as well as its effective role in the fight against desertification.
