ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf, received, on Monday, a phone call  from his French counterpart, Catherine Colonna, with whom he discussed the prospects for strengthening relations between the two countries, said a press release from the ministry.

Catherine Colonna congratulated her Algerian counterpart on his appointment and offered him her best wishes for success.

The conversation between the two ministers follows on from the French President’s visit to Algeria in August 2022 and the High-Level Intergovernmental Committee meeting held in Algiers in October 2022. Both sides welcomed the strong momentum created by the Algiers Declaration for a Renewed Partnership between France and Algeria on a par with the two countries’ ambitions.

Ahead of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune’s visit to France in May, the two ministers reviewed all the areas in which we engage in bilateral cooperation. They agreed to hold a regular dialogue with the aim of deepening relations between France and Algeria.
