ALGIERS- In a recent statement, Ahmed Wehman, the Head of the Moroccan Observatory Against Normalization, expressed serious concerns over growing Zionist influence in Morocco. Wehman highlighted a legal claim filed by a Zionist woman asserting to be the daughter of the late King Hassan II and the sister of King Mohammed VI. According to Wehman, this development raises alarms about potential Zionist aspirations for influence within Morocco, particularly in matters of governance.

Wehman, speaking to the London-based newspaper “Al-Quds Al-Arabi,” emphasized that the Zionist entity has extended its desires beyond economic, financial, agricultural, industrial, cultural, and media domains, delving into matters of Islamic endowments and religious affairs. He pointed to a self-proclaimed Rabbi who awaits an appointment by King Mohammed VI to oversee the country’s zakat (charitable almsgiving) affairs, one of the five pillars of Islam.

The Moroccan activist asserted that the Zionist ambitions have been unmasked, going beyond economic penetrations to include attempts at influencing the Moroccan monarchy directly. Wehman condemned a breach of Morocco’s commitment to Palestine, citing the recent normalization efforts and the corresponding Zionist actions as evidence of a calculated agenda.

Wehman reiterated that normalization poses a severe threat to Morocco, emphasizing the need for an immediate halt to protect the nation, its people, and its societal cohesion. He insisted that the Moroccan people have rejected normalization, as demonstrated in the massive rally in Rabat, where various political, intellectual, and social groups collectively voiced their opposition to such diplomatic ties.

Regarding the recent ceasefire in Gaza, Wehman expressed skepticism about its longevity. He suggested that if the ceasefire holds for some time, significant qualitative events may unfold. The activist argued that the events of October 7, 2023, marked a turning point in contemporary history, not only in the region but globally.

Wehman concluded by affirming that the battle against normalization is decisive and pivotal. He contended that amidst the tragedies and immense sacrifices, the signs of imminent victory for the Palestinian people, their right to self-determination, and the assertion of their rights are becoming increasingly evident. Wehman speculated that the dismantling of the Zionist entity may take time but is inevitable, echoing sentiments from within Zionist leadership itself, where figures like General Ehud Barak and retired General Isaac Brig anticipate the end of the entity they govern.
